How To Tell When Someone Lies

In case you didn't know.  Is it important to you that people tell the truth? Do you want to give your vote to liars?

Research has shown that liars will be trusted by voters [that's you] when they pivot -- answer a similar question — or transition to a completely different question.

Stop letting liars fool you. Don't listen to what others say: Go to the source. Find out the truth for yourself. Your life depends on knowing the truth.

Here are a few tell-tale signs to help you recognize who is telling the truth and who is lying:

1. The Pivot. It’s simply dodging the question. It’s the most common technique for career politicians. This happens when liars dodge the question by "pivoting" to an answer on the same subject. It sounds like an answer, but it does not answer the actual question asked.

Todd Rogers, a behavioral psychologist at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government conducted a study on why typical viewers don't notice. Rogers concluded "that people [that's you] are capable of detecting dodges only if lies are so different, it's noticeable. They don't seem capable of detecting the subtle dodge.

Rogers believes this is because people [that's you] spend their attention on social evaluations: "Do we like this person? Is he or she nice looking? Have a good smile?" Many people don't generally monitor content. It explains why politicians get away with dodging questions as much as 70 percent of the time.

A good example of "pivoting" is when Joe Biden answers questions from the press. Whether or not, you believe Biden really suffers from dementia, he’s good at spidering off onto a different topic. Telling his stories, so people forget what the question was.

It can be difficult to spot the one who is lying from the one telling the truth. When faced with a pivot, 39% of the time, voters were NOT able to identify ”the pivot" when they heard it. They didn't know how to recognize it. Maybe, now you will be able to recognize lying when you hear it.

Watch out for political candidates who "pivot" their answers and never give you a straight truthful answer. They're lying to you.

2. Answer a Similar but Different Question. This technique moves the audience's attention away from the original question by using what is called a transitional device.

The transition words are inserted before their response. See if you recognize hearing these transitions from politicians:

a) That’s a good question, and what we need to ask is whether people really understand what is going on...

b) I’m glad you asked that because there's another point that needs bringing up...

Note that the transition devices are friendly and offer praise to the questioner. This helps to make what is said more acceptable and also more difficult to challenge. Still, these liars never give you a straight truthful response.

 3. Answer a Completely Different Question. Robert MacNamara epitomized career politicians when he said, “Never answer the question that is asked of you. Answer the question that you wish had been asked.” You can probably recognize the lie if you think about it. The person answers a completely different question with a perfectly plausible response. But NOT the truthful answer to the question asked. Another liar who refuses to tell the truth. There are many more signs. Here's a few more.

 4. Change the Question Altogether. Another technique is to change the question itself. The liar tells the questioner they have asked the wrong thing. They then state what that question should be (and then answer that question). Again, no truthful answer to the question asked.

5. Evade the Question with a Long Answer. Liars try to take control by "talking a lot" to prevent more questions. Sometimes, they get angry and play hurt. Use put-down language, such as 'Actually...' or 'As a matter of fact...'

Barack Obama was a master at the long answer. This is a form of evading the question. It's a type of pivot. By the time the person is done, you've forgotten the question and end up praising the "canned answer" you were spoon fed.

6. Silence. One of the easiest ways to avoid the question is to stare back at the questioner or audience. This is not easy to, but when the liar becomes good at it, it makes the other person uncomfortable.

7. Saying NO
. A straightforward refusal is simply to say no. It's a form of lying by omission.

a) I'm not going to answer that.

b) I'm sorry, I'm not going to answer that.

8. Ignoring the Question. A simple way of not answering is to act as if no question was asked and continuing the conversation by talking about something else.

Compulsive Lying

Most people have difficulty believing someone like Barack Obama who has a nice smile and sounds good is lying.

In everyday life, it may not matter. When voting, it absolutely does matter. The Biden administration proved that in less than two years.

Whether it’s the school board, midterms or the next presidential election — don’t judge the candidate by how they look, but by the lies or truth they tell: Decide who will make your life better, safer, prosperous. Who will keep America safe and secure from invasion over our Southern Border. Who will protect our freedom and make America the exceptionally happy and healthy place to live you want.

Write this list down and compare it to how and what politicians say. Stay informed. Find the truth. Vote smart.

Remember. A compulsive liar is defined as someone who lies out of habit. These people have an addiction to lying, and they simply cannot stop.

Democrat President Obama said 26 times, "If you like your healthcare plan, you'll be able to keep your healthcare plan."

Democrat Joe Biden claims he was offered a job by an Idaho lumber company; they have no record. He claims he “used to drive” an 18-wheeler — it didn’t happen. He’s said he visited Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life synagogue after the 2018 massacre, speaking to the rabbi, when the synagogue says he’s never even been there.

A reporter for the New York Post writes, "Drip by drip, like Whitewater torture, the case is being made that Democrat Hillary Clinton is compelled to mislead, and to ensnare her subordinates and friends in a web of deceit."

Telling the truth feels awkward and uncomfortable to compulsive liars — while lying feels right. They are so good at it, it’s just not that easy to spot the one who tells the truth. But you can do it.

Just remember, compulsive lying is seldom one time or one thing.
