Best Christmas Gift

Hello and Merry Christmas Eve to you and your family.  By now you've done your shopping, wrapped the box and tied it with a bow.

Most families give and receive gifts over the Christmas holidays. It's a tradition. We celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, and that helps us think of others; it helps us be generous, kind and caring.
When you gather around the Christmas tree to open presents this year, be generous with your time for family and the ones you love and cherish, that's the best Christmas gift, the greatest gift.  Like the example of the three wise men who invested their time to follow the star, give your time to your loved ones.  That's the real gift.

"You" are the best gift.

How to Say "Thank You" for the Gift

The box wrapped in green and red paper and dressed with ribbons and bows is the symbol of the gift you receive.  The real gift is the good heart given to you by someone who spent time and maybe a bit of coin to give to you the message that you are thought of, loved and respected. What better gift can you receive?

Show a your gratitude in a way that the gift-giver knows in their heart of hearts that you receive their gift with genuine gladness and gratitude.

(1) First, say thank you out loud to the someone who gives you a wrapped gift or the gift of a hug;

(2) Extend your thanks beyond saying "Thank You" by adding a sentence or two about the "effort" that the person exhibited to choose the gift for you; and,

(3) Tell the person how much their effort means to you or how it makes or made or will make a difference to you in your life.

A simple act of gratitude can change your life. Small gestures, expressions and "you" matter the most. So this Christmas, when you receive a gift, say thank you in a way that makes the gift-giver feel good, honored and respected.

When you sit down at the table with loved ones to share your Christmas meal, be thankful for everyone and everything that makes this time of sharing joy possible. Embrace friends and family who chose to share time with you.

That's what's on my mind this Merry Christmas Eve. Thanks for Being Grand.  Follow @AlexandriaMarx on Twitter, Like this post on Facebook.
