Mom never stops being your mother |
The there's the big dad who has his birthday this month. too. Sad to say our precious little Wolfie would have been having a birthday this month, as well.
The question of the proper gift always comes to mind during birthday month and on other months too when people have birthdays. Just what do you give as a gift when it feels like most people have everything they need. It's a dilemma.
I did go shopping around the Internet to see if I could pick up some ideas. I found some nice clothing items online. Victoria secret seems to be a place to get some nice things for the girls. I like Amazon.com. Some of the big retail stores are having sales because of the holidays, so these are nice places to stop and shop. I like Kohls.
One of the gifts I like to give is the gift of chance. So I get a sentimental birthday card -- or sometimes a humorous card -- and stuff it full of lottery tickets. When you have most everything you need in life, a "scratch it off with it dime" is fun and can be a surprise when you win! Some scratchers paid $100: Not a bad surprise.
Another gift that feels good and seems to be welcome are gift cards. I like to give gift cards for local restaurants. I am actually not a big fan of gift cards. They seem impersonal. But everyone has to eat, so giving a nice meal as gift is always something people can use. Adult people, I think, enjoy a lunch or evening out -- that's already paid for with the gift card… but for kids... not so much. The young kids like gift cards from Toys "R" Us and as they get older Best Buy seems to be the ticket.
I always get our puppy a birthday gift and it's usually a squeaky toy or new bone to chew.
I wish I had some fresh ideas to give young adult children. For our parents, the food basket is a hit. Did I mention that everyone has to eat. [Hah de hah]
Truth be told, blog, with birthdays, I tridmy best to send a nice birthday greeting card four five days in advance the big day. As the years passed, and a fixed income sat hard on our wants and wishes.... the cost of gifts grow challenging. Might have to get gifts rather than give. Life has its disappointments, doesn't it?
TIP: Think off others. Be thoughtful. Give gifts for no reason.
Well, that's my rambling thoughts for today, blog. More later on gift giving, because the holidays are a coming and gifts are a big part of the celebration. Bye for now, blog.
