Here's How to Taste 60 Different Foods in One Day

My honey and I are on a tight budget so spending even a little on fun and frivolity takes careful consideration. But people get real bored if fun is missing, so we decided to take action this weekend.

Taste of Addison was our choice. It's a three-day event that we've attended before. Boy! It's sure changed. I remember when we first went, and it was basically booths up and down both sides of one street.

Yesterday, when we went, the first thing we noticed is that the little event we used to go to, exploded into what is now this huge event with bands, midway games, children's carnival rides, celebrity chef demonstrations and even wine tasting — in addition to food samplings from 60 Addison restaurants each at nicely reduced "sample size" prices.

My honey and I ate our fill. Just in from the gate, we started with a favorite. We split a pulled pork BBQ sandwich. It was so good.

I also found a new restaurant for my favorite food in all the world, Mexican food. I ate a plate full of tamales. Yummy. I mean really really good. My honey and I will be going to this Mexican restaurant on our next date night for a full-size meal. I guess that's the whole idea. It's exactly why these 60 restaurants offer sample-size bites from their menu. Smart.

It turned out to be a beautiful day. I loved listening to the Johnny Cash music — a popular preference of mine — and up and coming bands… kinda like Woodstock only with trees. A lot of trees.

Addison has done a wonderful job building the Addison Circle Park site.

I am always interested in cooking, so we went by the Albertsons' Cookin' with the Gridiron Greats Showcase (hosted by CBS 11). It featured cooking demonstrations by Randy White, DeMarco Murray, Drew Pearson and Jason Witten.

The event ended Sunday. If you missed it, put it on your calendar for next year. It's a good way to taste 60 different foods in one day. Delicious and fun!

Remember to exercise, eat less sugar and carbs, brush your teeth before you go to bed. It's always a good idea to listen to your mother. Happy thoughts!
