Thank God for Great Sons and the Texas No Call List

Good morning bloggers. Yesterday, son Steven dropped by for a visit. Happy news by itself, but this wonderful and thoughtful son brought his mom a new telephone to replace the oldie I had plugged in.

What a great gift. The phone has caller ID and an answering feature. Now, if I can't get to the phone quick enough, I get the message. Yeah!

One of our concerns going to the land line phone was the solicitor calls. When we used to have a land line, the calls we got were worse than email spam. So, we registered with the Texas No Call List. If you don't know about this terrific service offered by the state, it's a "stop unwanted calls" system, and it works. You can register your home phone, cell phone or a business phone number.

For the last few years, we had our cell phone numbers registered on the Texas No Call List, so it was a no-brainer to register our new land line number. Now, it does take some time for the "spam callers" to get the word, but they do. The calls either stop... or don't start at all. Your registration lasts for three years. Then, you just register again.

The service is free if you register online, and a couple of dollars if you call or want to mail in your registration form. You can learn more about this wonderful service at:

That's just Texas. You can also register nationwide. We did both. Under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), the FCC together with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), established a national Do-Not-Call Registry. You can also register free, and there is no expiration date. Learn more at: http://www.fcc.gov/encyclopedia/do-not-call-list

It is super easy to register with the FCC. It's automated. Here's the number. Call 1-888-382-1222 – You must call "from" the phone with the number that you want to register.

Now that my honey and I registered our new land line number, I can make dinner without being frustrated by unwanted telemarketers. I have enough insurance. Don't need any more widgets. Don't want to be part of a survey. You get my drift.

Well, that's yesterday's news so far today. Have a good one, and thanks son for being such a wonderful son. I thank you for your love and support, your time, the phone you brought over and for all you do for your mom. My heart is full with love and appreciation.

Thanks all for following my blog. One of the choices my honey and I did to cut expenses was to stop paying for cell phone service. We choose good food, follow better meal planning, focus on smart cooking, and save money and get ready to live happy in retirement. Have a day filled with smiles.
