How to Give the Dog a Bath?

Hellooo blog! It's a brand new day and this morning Mr. Puppy is getting a bath. Funny that my honey read an article in the newspaper about how to acquaint your puppy dog with the idea of taking a bath. The writer had a list of tips to help your dog be more welcoming of bath day. I guess most dogs don't like getting a bath.

Bailey, on the other hand, loves his bath. We just whisper the word bath and he trots to the laundry room and pulls down his bath towel. Firming clasped between his jaw, he prances around. "Give me a Bath" he says as he does the bath day prance dandy.
Bailey might be unusual in this regard. He has always loved taking a bath. Luckily for me, he jumps in the tub. Lucky because he is 134 lbs and there's no way I could lift him up and into the bath tubarooni.

I've never seen a dog who gets his bath towel, but he loves bathtime. I didn't do anything special except maybe start giving him his bath regularly from when he was a wee pup. Maybe he just got used to the idea… maybe in his brain, he made bathing a part of the routine.

Now, it expects it just like he expects breakfast. Who knows. But I do believe that Bailey is a smart puppy dog. Smarter than ones who have lived with us before. Well, maybe not as smart as Wolfie. Anyway, there was never a need to persuade  our Bailey boy to take his bath. He L O V E S to be clean. Want a few dog grooming secrets, click here.

Here's how I give Bailey a bath. We say, "Okay, the water's warm, get in the tub." That's all there is to that. Bailey jumps in, gets watered down. Doggie shampoo drizzles over and under. Rinse and blow dry [with my hair dryer]. Yes, he might be a bit spoiled.

I mean clean. I've learned from the expression on his face that I had better wash his bedding on bath day. Otherwise, he gives me this Huh? look when it's bed bye time. "Hey, mom, didn't you wash my blankies? Am I supposed to sleep clean on dirty bedding?" [Yup!] That's our boy. A puppy dog among puppy dogs who is keen on communicating.

Isn't it a wonder that we actually understand what he says? From "Open the door, I gotta go" to "What's that? You want me to walk slow?" Our Bailey is such a joy in our life. Pure pleasure. Everyone should be so lucky. God bless all dogs. What in the world would life be without puppy dogs?

We are grateful that we are among the smart ones who living the good life with our dog Bailey. He's a chocolate lab who speaks up. Hoorah!

That's it, blog. Have a happy day!
