It's another me and my honey day off from the regular work-a-day routine. [yea] What's great about this day off is that it is one of my favorite things to do days. Shop. Yes, I love to shop. Shop is what I love to do, and that's that. My honey, on the other hand, puts up with shopping. He is not one to part with his money. In fact, I could go so far as to say that he does not want to spend. Ever.
Now that doesn't necessarily mean that he never shops. But close. My honey loves to put glue to his coin and hang on like his money has wings and if he lets go, it will fly away… forever.
Well, that is actually a good thing. But I can't help it. I love to shop. Maybe shopping is a woman thing. You know, built in at birth. Women are born with the shopping gene. It's in our genetic code. Not plausible, but who knows?
Anyway, today is off. Day off, that is. It reminds me of that movie… what's the name of it? Oh yeah, Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Well, okay, that was a day off from school, but off it was from the daily routine.
So the plan is to first pay attention to the dog. Yes, Bailey always must get the love, caring and promise of ball chasing. That's first. BTW, Bailey is such a maniac about chasing the ball, he jaws it first thing in the morning and pushes it into my honey's hand as if to say, "Is it time to play ball? Huh? Huh? Yes? Yes?" Not to disappoint, Bailey gets his chase shortly this AM. And that is that.
Next, but first, is the time devoted to body building. Fitness. Healthy exercise. Smart thinking. Run. Bike. Lift a few weights. How many sets did you say? Hmmm…
After a deep breath and a shower, my honey and I jump in the car and zoom to a local eatery for a bite. Exercise off. Food in. [smile]
Oh wait, in-between all this, my honey surfs the Net for the history of Tom Petty. Pause as he does, he likes to know more about what he thought he already knew. Last night we watched American Idol and some references were made to the Petty song list. That got him athinkin' and here he is this morning reading me the stats. It tickled me to learn that Tom P met Elvis, but that's just one bit. Tom P is part of a magic era and that is truly golden for sing and song.
Okay, it is a day off… and the subject is shopping. [Yea] In the car we go and off to Lowes to check out ovens. Yes, ours is broken. Partially. It doesn't work. The part to fix it is not made anymore. Discontinued it is. So hello new oven and goodbye money [oh no, my honey has a tear in his eye] It's money out day, not money in day.
Well, he'll feel better soon… no time for delay. Next, we're off to buy some liquid refreshments. You guessed it. The liquor store. Arriba! [margaritas in my mug tonight]. It's a cocktail made of tequila, lime or lemon juice, and an orange-flavored liqueur, usually served in a salt-rimmed glass. Bartender extraordinaire my honey is. Tequila achieva. Olay!
Bags and box filled with bottles of the good stuff. [no, we are not drinkers… just imbibers now and then] That makes the glass a treat. Yum!
With the car stocked, it's off to the grocer to get food and sundries from meat you eat to toilet paper you use. Food for Bailey, and don't forget the mixed motley stuff we need and don't need, but put on the pantry shelf anyway.
It's going to be a rollicking fun day, blog. Shop and spend. It feels good doing it, but not so good later when we look at the bank balance. Oh well… what are ya gonna do. Some spends are a must. [perplexed am I]
That's all for today.
