Perfect Beverage 4 For Cinco de Mayo

May 5 is Cinco de Mayo, a day many Mexican-American cotozen descendants who live in the United States celebrate. Cinco de Mayo is not a celebration of Mexican Independence. That's September 16. May 5th is the day to remember an unlikely victory against overwhelming odds. It's a good day to remind us all to strive for victory whatever the challenge.
Food surrounds any celebration for sure. That's why many cooks, including me, celebrate Cinco de Mayo making their favorite Mexican food and beverage recipes, such as Fajitas, nachos and margaritas.

My honey and I are having pork tacos using the leftover pork from the Ultimate Mexican pork sandwiches I made last month (safely stored in the freezer). My honey is making his family-favorite guacamole. It's his own creation recipe, and it is divine.

Margaritas are the traditional go with, but I love Honey Mosso on Cinco de Mayo because it's a victory drink that looks like ¡Fiesta in a Glass!

What's Honey Mosso? Well, it's a sweet fruity non-alcoholic beverage that I created. Perfectly refreshing.

Believe me when I say there's nothing really imaginative about this drink. It's pretty simple and straightforward.

Now, even though we don't normally drink sodas, this is a happy drink for a celebration, such as Cinco de Mayo. It is a bit on the sugar sweet side... so easy does it. No refills after a limit of two for me.

Honey Mosso with Two Cherries Please

I named it Honey Mosso.... Honey for me, and Mosso for drink it up fast cause it's so good. Here's how to make it.

First chill the glass or goblet. Then, load it up with big ice cubes. Pour 3/4 can Squirt and 1/4 OJ [orange juice]. Stir.

My honey adds one of those decorative cocktail umbrella sticks for a smile, and pokes a couple of maraschino cherries and a piece of pineapple on the stick part and sets it proudly on the edge of the glass.

It is good and refreshing. I have a big glass in arm's reach right now.

Cherries and Pineapple are fruit loaded with antioxidants, very low in saturated fat, cholesterol and sodium.

Cherries are also a good source of dietary fiber and Vitamin C.

Pineapple is also a good source of dietary fiber, thiamin, Vitamin B6 and copper, and a very good source of Vitamin C and manganese.

A wonderful ingredient with this Honey Mosso is the smile factor. A frosty drink with a fruit-loaded umbrella toothpick tipped on the side does bring on the smiles. Fiesta! Arriba! Olé! Imagine how enjoyable it is when you're sitting with your honey on the backyard patio deck. Preciosa. Hola hermosa. Hola guapa.

Note: A large portion of cherries or pineapple has a bit of calories and the calories come from sugar. Luckily, this Honey Mosso has a minor amount of sugar. Enough to be sweet, but not enough to have a bad sugar outcome [in moderation].
