United States of America Flag Day

Today is Flag Day. It was in 1916 that President Woodrow Wilson officially proclaimed June 14 as Flag Day.  Presidents Warren Harding, Calvin Cookidge, Herbert Hoover, FDR and Truman, saluted June 14.

In August 1949, National Flag Day was established by an Act of Congress.

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

From Chiquita Bananas, this holiday breakfast toasts America's Star Spangled Banner. Dress your morning wake-up with Chiquita Bananas for a quick 4th of July Open-faced Breakfast Sandwich.

Chiquita’s history is a story of unique and positive transformation. From its founding by Captain Lorenzo Dow Baker in 1870 to the addition of the Fresh Express brand in 2005, Chiquita’s dedicated employees transformed the company into one of the leading socially and environmentally responsible produce companies in the industry.

Although Chiquita’s history includes storied moments in its past, the company now proudly focuses on extending labor rights, protecting our environment and investing in the communities. Core Values of Integrity, Respect, Opportunity and Responsibility serve as the basis of our business performance and guide our everyday activities.

America was founded on the hope that we the people could make a better place to live and be happy. The flag reminds us how hard we fought to be intolerant of those who would destroy our hopes and dreams.

Whatever you can do, think thin. Get rid of the clutter in your life that doesn't work. Embrace what does work.

…And this be our motto: "In God is our trust." And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave. O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
