October 2015. Many voters say yes, but does Trump personify Reagan — the man Republicans hold up as the icon of conservative principles?
It was two decades ago, and some don't remember Ronald Reagan as an icon. Many older voters hold Reagan in esteem because he stood up for America.
It's these who can't see how the two men compare, but these are the
same some who still can't believe "outsiders" are in, and politicians
are out. They can't explain why Trump leads in polls.
Why do many voters believe Donald Trump personifies Ronald Reagan?
The two men on the surface appear quite different. Reagan was a wispy
voiced man who did show his angry voice and facial expressions at
campaign debates.
During one 1980 presidential election, a visibly angry Reagan responded, "I am paying for this microphone, Mr. Green!"
Even though pundits describe Donald Trump as brash, he speaks with a
confident voice and never seems to get angry. Trump states his opinion
and leaves others to agree or disagree.
