Civil War: Jim Crow Laws 1877, 6 of 7

In 1865, after the Civil War, after Republican President Abraham Lincoln's emancipated the slaves... Republicans abolished slavery and white supremacy.

However, despite the Civil War amendments, democrats, didn’t agree Blacks should be free.

Democrats founded the Ku Klux Klan (KKK). The group’s goal was to maintain White Supremacy and control by threatening, intimating and even murdering Black people.

The KKK continued to treat Black Americans with utter disregard for their life and liberty.

In 1871, during Republican President Ulysses S. Grant term, passed federal Anti-Klan laws.

Democrats called Grant and fellow Republicans, radicals for wanting to protect the rights of Black Americans.

Jim Crow Laws
In 1877, to get around federal laws, Democrat legislators passed Jim Crow laws that once again repressed the rights of Black American citizens. Black men were intimidated and “blocked from the right to register and vote.” Democrats ensured white superiority and segregation.

Democrats, White Superiority and Segregation.

The KKK resurfaced in the 20th Century with its false portrayal in a film titled, The Birth of a Nation.

On or about 1959, KKK leader and democrat, Robert Byrd, was welcomed by democrats into the U.S. Senate. It may or may not be true that a KKK monster can magically reform. Who can honestly know if and when democrats will make the lives of Black Americans better?

The KKK is still active in the 21st Century. ///
