Let's start with a blessing from 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
“Lord, help me rejoice always – no
matter what, to pray continually, and give thanks to You in all
circumstances, for this is Your will for me in Christ Jesus.”
Okay, news flash. Here is my recipe for the best hamburgers ever. Now,
my honey has always made the burgs in this household, but... with my new
found passion and graduation from cooking class, I have taken over even
his most fine and delicious cooking.
That includes the best
hamburger ever. Yes, he gets the glory for the fabulous taste treat...
until today. I made my own ingredient list and frying technique for my
version of the best hamburgers ever. I am surprised, but not surprised.
He loved my burgers. Yea! So for all you burger lovers, try this recipe.
What's great about it — other than the fab taste — is how easy and simple it is to make.
Ingredients:
1 lb. ground chuck
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/3 cup butter
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Directions:
Lightly wet your hands with cold water; and use your hands to mush the chuck with the egg, garlic and onion powder spices -- about 10 times; then gently form ground beef mixture into 3 patties, about 1-inch thick and larger than your bun.
Tips: When forming patties, handle as little as possible, because loosely packed burgers are crisper on the outside and juicier inside. Poke a hole in the center (this will stop the hamburger from rising in the center. The hole will close while cooking). Season top of meat with salt and pepper.
Heat a cast iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat for 2 to 3 minutes. Place the butter in the pan and let slowly melt, add the cayenne and slosh around to mix. (This is all about flavor, yum!) Place the hamburger patties in the pan of pepper butter. For medium-rare burgers, cook the patties for 4 minutes on each side. For medium burgers, cook the patties for 5 minutes on each side. Flip the burgers only once during cooking. Serve on warmed sesame buns or brush on olive oil and toast buns in the oven.
Servings: 3
I served my hamburgers with mayo, lettuce, a thick slice of tomato, red onion and dill pickles. But there are many options that go great with hamburgs.
4 slices cheddar cheese
8 slices cooked bacon
4 fried eggs
1 tomato, thinly sliced
1 small onion, thinly sliced
Lettuce, cut into 1/4-inch slices
Sweet pickle relish
Ketchup
Mustard
Mayonnaise
