Violence in America --Fort Hood November 5, 2009

November 5, 2009. An avoidable shooting spree took place at Fort Hood near Killeen, Texas. On this terrible day, our great military suffered 13 fatally shot and more than 30 injured. —Online source

According to online reports, days after the shooting, “the media revealed that a Joint Terrorism Task Force had been aware of a series of e-mails between (shooter) Nidal Hasan and the Yemen-based Imam Anwar al-Awlaki, who had been monitored by the NSA as a security threat, and that Hasan's colleagues had been aware of his increasing Islamic radicalization for several years.

To make matters worse —if that’s even possible— the U.S. government declined requests from survivors and family members to categorize the Fort Hood shooting as an act of terrorism, or motivated by militant Islamic religious convictions.

"It was undeniably the worst multi-military shooting on  American soil, on a military base and arguably, the worst terrorist attack in the United States since the September 11 attacks.

"A U.S. Military Court under the Uniform Code of Military Justice found Nidal Hasan, a U.S. Army major and psychiatrist, guilty on 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder on August 23, 2013, and was sentenced to death on August 28, 2013.

"The failure to prevent the shooting led the Defense Department and the FBI to commission investigations and Congress to hold hearings.”

Sidebar: Fort Hood was disrespectfully renamed Fort Cavazos. A blight on the valor and history of this American military Fort. That's my opinion.
