Blood and guts! If you are in the mood for revenge or call it, "get even" or maybe, "put a stop to needless killing" -- then you are going to really enjoy Ninja Assassin, blog.
Personally, one of my favorite genre movies is action. I call it 'beat em up, kill em, smash em' movies. Of course, it has to be fantasy. I do not like death and destruction. But… if it's obviously a tale to tell… you can enjoy it.
Simply picture every person who ever mistreated you… and let the movie play out your own version of 'set the record right.' It works.
I am also a fan of Kung Fu type movies. I know. I know. This wasn't Kunk Fu. But you get my drift, don't you blog? It's the rock em… sock em… twirl around, fly through the air, do feats that normal people can't do. I love it! There I go again! What kind of person does that make me? I'd have to say that I am well rounded when it comes to film as a form of entertainment. How 'bout you?
I had not seen Rain in action before. This was my first peak at this new star. I am a Jackie Chan fan and a bunch more like JC. I thought he did a fantastic job. Completely believable -- for make believe.
Naomie Harris was incredible and yes, she is special. I can't agree more.
For action adventure types movies, it was purely entertaining. For anyone who loves this genre, love will blossom. It has it all. More blood and killing the bad guys equal to any similar movie. It was a bit over the top, but nothing a real fan can't overlook.
I thought the backstory was believable. I understood why Raizo did what he did. It's almost a mirror of the brainwashing that actually exists among our own communities today. Just a different type, but brainwashing just the same.
Bloody, yes. But dig in for the real theme going on in this black movie. Scene after scene, I saw the truth. Kidnapping. Brainwashing of the worst kind. Torture. Do or die. And in the midst of all this mayhem, you have trust. A young woman opens like a gentle daffodil to believe in Raizo. She even helps him escape and then is instrumental in bringing the clan to justice. Amazing.
It's not the best story of this kind that I've ever seen. But it is well worth watching. Great is many ways.
Ask yourself this. How does a young man like Raizo come up with the knowledge that the life he was taught is not a good life. Knowing all he has been told, how does he figure it out? How does he summon the courage to do something about all the bad going on around him? It's a testament to natural born instincts. Good triumphs over evil. That is always a story worth watching.
I personally thought this movie was spellbinding. Loved every frame. What took this movie from a typical "Sunday afternoon hot dog on a stick" to a "Grade A Filet Mignon dinner with all the gourmet trimmings" was Rain.
