My Easy Exercise and Fitness Plan

I am stuffed. I had a huge, gigantic baked potato, loaded with fat fat fat (butter, cheese, sour cream) and two ice cream cones at Jason's Deli. Full as I feel, it can't compare to my full heart. I can't even express the joy my heart feels when my son calls and takes me to lunch.

I L O V E it! I am one lucky mom. Steven is my youngest, and he goes by Steve. A me-man name. But... mom, that's me, I get to call him Steven, 'cause that's the name I named him. [A bit of mom being stubborn about the beautiful name I gifted to my baby boy. He is always Steven to me.]
Double-happy today, because Tim joined us for lunch and it was an eye-watering happy couple of hours. [I wonder if sons know how a small thing like lunch can tattoo a happy face on mom's heart and turn heartbeats into the music of Louis Armstrong's What a Wonderful World.]

Now that I am home and my stomach is happy but bulging like an too blown up balloon, my eye turns to that room down that hallway. [you guessed it] It's the exercise room. That's where the treadmill waits for me everyday. The bike. The big blue ball. Assorted hand weights, and a red stretchy thingie.

The nice thing about our exercise room is the TV. I turn the knob and it's always set to HGTV. I tread the mill, bike the bike and catch up on House Hunters, Guy and Mike Holmes. My favs. If there is a good movie on, I watch that. But mostly

One thing I notice is that the older I get, the longer it takes for exercise to work. After that yummy lunch with my two sons, I guess I will need to tread and bike for at least an hour, maybe two, just to stay even -- weight wise.

I admit that staying fit is difficult, especially when I am so busy. When you throw in the fact that I have six grandchildren, being grand is challenging. [yes, I started at a too young age, but that's it and I wouldn't change a thing]

My Exercise and Fitness Exercises

I'll share, blog. This is what I do to attempt to stay fit. My exercise schedule first is entered on my calendar. It's my desktop calendar and I set alarms, so that I get a 15-minute warning. The alarm pops up on my computer. So, if I am working in front of my computer (as a writer, I usually am in front of my computer 8 hours or more every day).

But… sometimes, I take a break, or for various other reasons, I am not in front of my computer. I still get the alarm, because I have the iPhone and any alarm I set on my Mac, is also sent to me on my iPhone. Mobile Me. It's great.

Anyway, so now I have my own reminder sent to me wherever I am. Nice. No excuses. If I ignore the reminders I myself set, I have only myself to blame for my lack of exercise and fitness.

Next, I write out a plan for when and what I want to do for exercise. I do this monthly, but I may change it for a certain week. It depends on what's going on that week. For example, it might be a holiday. The number one rule in my house is, no exercise on holidays! Period. It's a time for celebration, not sweat and gasping for air.

That's about it, except for one tiny little part. Alli. [no, I am not one of those pill freaks] I know I cannot lose weight or even keep control of my weight swallowing a little round pellet. I started at MyAlli.com and tried it for 90 days. I was literally astounded by my weight loss. I stopped. About 5 or 6 weeks went by and nothing.

"Okay," I said to myself, "maybe I need Alli for a little longer." I went back to it and lost over 35 lbs. I look marvelous. At first, I got a few comments, but it may have been polite talk. It sounds weird, but even 35 lbs. didn't seem like much… appearance-wise. My clothes size did go down, but I pretty much look the same, especially in my puggy face. [I've always had fat cheeks]

I plan to be down 35 more pounds by Christmas. Then, I think I will love myself and how I look. For my exercise and fitness plan, click on over to my Exercise Plan page.

We'll blog, if you have any suggestions on how I can exercise and stay fit, let me hear it. Weight problems are universal. I need all the help and support I can get.
