Chunky Monkey Anyone

Hah ha ha, you will get a kick out of this one, blog. I was visiting with my sister on the phone today when she slipped Mattie into the conversation.

Mattie is not like Bailey. Hannah is. But that's neither here nor there. The funny is that Mattie loves to sit on her mommy's lap. Well, don't all dogs want to cuddle up with their human mom? Yes, and no. Our little Wolf man did at first, and then he didn't. As I mentioned in his eulogy blog, Wolfie was his own man. But once again, I stray.

My sis says that Mattie is about 60 pounds. Can you imagine, blog, a sixty pound anything sitting on your lap? Let me see, what weighs the big six zero? Hmmm…

A small picnic table, box o books, spare tire, 6 bowling balls [can you see my sister holding 6 multi-colored bowling balls in her lap?]… ah, no -- How about an old console TV, diswasher, desk, washing machine… Yikes! How would ya like to wake up with one of these 60 lb. anythings in your lap. Yes, it's a tidy sum… and there the pup is -- smiling like a well cared for dog -- all 60 lbs. sitting in my sister's lap… Now that's a true dog lover. My sis loves her dogs. Kirks, too. Mine, too, I dare say. [smile]

Truth be told, I think this pup who lives with my sister is a bit over weight, because she [my sis] calls Mattie [her pup], the Chunky Monkey. Isn't that adorable? I think it is adorable.

Now… Bailey would so love to sit on my lap [if he could]. But I can't even imagine how he could pull that off. He is a bit bigger and he weighs 140 pounds. I think he could put his head on my lap. He does.

Don't get your skirt in a tizzie, the vet has Bailey on a fitness plan. [Don't laugh] Blog, you know we spoil our dog(s). Yup! I think he can rightly be called a 'Chunky Money' too. He must lose about 20 lbs. So he exercises three to four times per week. He thinks it's play time.

He chases the ball and when done with his running, he comes inside and becomes docile dog. He splays out on the floor after slopping water and ice cubes aaaaall over. He wisps out a long, deep sigh and plops down, spreads out, rests up, naps and is ready to go again in about ten minutes. Ouch!

Anyway, I can't imagine life without at least one dog to keep company with me. My Bailey gives me so much pleasure. He is a real joy. I'm sure my sister feels that same way. Funny, how sisters share the same loves, isn't it?

Bailey pays close attention to the screen when 'The Closer' is tuned in. Okay, blog, it is hard to miss with our 62" flat screen TV and awesome sound system.

That's a story for another day. Goodnight, blog. Sweet dreams.
