What Can a Beginner Bake in the Kitchen

In my quest to learn how to be a chef-like cook, I discovered that baking seems to be different from cooking. Then, there is grilling, not to mention pouching, braising, browning and microwaving.

Today, I am baking, at least trying to bake. I compare my bake to a Betty Crocker box of brownies that my honey purchased for me at the corner grocer. My try was sort of a pound cake turned into an angel cake pan. You know, one of those pans with a hole in the center. Mostly, you see bundt cake pans, but I have an angel food cake pan from a couple of decades ago… and it still bakes cakes fine.

It is unbelievable… but it turned out pretty good. It was my first try and "baking." It was yummy, so said my honey, but I say so, too. I mean, I know when food I eat is good, and my taste buds don't favor my own cooking. I can smile or gag no matter if I baked it or not. Ha hah

In this case, I baked it NOT from a box, but from SCRATCH. I measured, scooped, mixed, poured and put my creation into a nice cooking oven. Done it was and so it rested, cooled down and was topped with a yummy frosting. [Gad! I believe I can bake. I am a baker.] Okay, one baked delight doesn't make a baker, but I am on my way. It wasn't awful [smile]. In fact, it was really good.

I admit it was pretty easy. I say that now 'cause it turned out well. It is the perfect breakfast with milk or coffee accompaniment. Tastes good after lunch or dinner, too. Slice and seal in a plastic sandwich and it travels well. It somewhat healthy, but you may have to do a few extra laps or an extra 30 minutes on the treadmill if you eat a normal size slice. If you want the recipe, let me know and I'll post it.This is a smart little recipe for beginners like myself to bake with prideful results that'll get lots o praise.

There it is, an update on my quest to become a good cook. Any ideas.  Help needed:-)
That's all for today. Please post a comment. Thanks.
