This year, I feel especially lucky. It's a brand new year. My honey and I have recently experienced some events that forced us to appreciate all we have.
Sometimes, life gets a bit muddled and you unintentionally focus on the bad stuff, feel sorry for yourself, and cause your heart to frown more than smile. That's what we did, until we woke up!Yes, it is a lucky day. I'm alive and doing well health-wise. We have each other, wonderful children, and a gloriously joyful puppy.
There's food in the pantry, a few dollars in the bank, a roof over our heads and you can still put gas in the car for less than $3.00 a gallon at least for now. Yes, I am a lucky girl indeed.
Wikipedia says luck is good fortune which occurs beyond one's control, without regard to one's will, intention, or desired result. I disagree. Good luck is no accident.
I believe good fortune has to do with your attitude about life. You know... how you look at things... how grateful you are... and what you want to make life for yourself and those around you.
There are many people — who deservedly so, could wallow in self-pity because of the not-so-good things happening in their life, but why waste even one minute of precious time feeling sad. If you can't change it, make the best of it. Concentrate on what is good. Think lucky. Make every day that you are still breathing the best day it can be. Review the Serenity Prayer: It's a recipe that seems appropriate for this Friday the 13th.
Serenity Prayer
God, give us grace to accept with serenity the things that cannot be changed,
Courage to change the things
which should be changed,
and the Wisdom to distinguish
the one from the other.
Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace,
Taking, as Jesus did,
This sinful world as it is,
Not as I would have it,
Trusting that You will make all things right,
If I surrender to Your will,
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life,
And supremely happy with You forever in the next.
Amen.

Today, Friday the 13th, is the day that something good always happens to me in my life. It's been that way for years and years. I don't know what it's going to be this year, but I know that whether it's small or a big lottery win, I will appreciate the fact that I am lucky to be alive with the many blessings God has bestowed on me and those I love. Thank you Lord.
If I could wish you one wish, it'd be to feel lucky every day.
That's it for today, blog.
