Kitchen Review: The Kitchen Stand Mixer Appliance

No doubt that my kitchen mixer is my favorite kitchen appliance, tool and utensil.

I think that many cooks favor their kitchen appliance, the stand mixer, because it has several uses. Whipping cream can be done by a hand mixer, this is true, but mixing up dough for cookies or bread is a breeze when you have a kitchen mixer. I love my mixer so much that I keep it on top of the counter (not hidden in a cupboard). It is a beautiful addition to my kitchen decor.

Stand mixers come with many different options and attachments. Prices average several hundred dollars, at least for a mixer that stands the test of time. You can now also get a mixer in stainless steel or a nickel pearl finish, traditional white or a color. I have the KitchenAid Empire Red and I just love looking at. I use it frequently probably because I keep it handy and easy to get at.

I chose my stand mixer for its brand name. That made it easy for me to judge the quality. I believe KitchenAid is a high quality mixer and a good value for my money.

Once I got it, I realized that there are other considerations. It is quiet when running. It has a stop safety latch. It is sort of a heavy weight which means it doesn't move around when I'm making and mixing. But it's not too heavy for me to carry if I want to move it.

I like the placement of the control options for lifting the top and changing the mixing speeds. I got the one with the stainless steel bowl because that's a personal preference. But KitchenAid offers a mixer with a glass bowl as well.

The size of the bowl was important to me. There's just me and my honey. I didn't need a giant bowl that cooking for a big family might use. I also ordered the one with only a couple of attachments. I didn't need the extra attachments but I can always get them later. Another nice feature. KitchenAid is a good brand name and company, so I am confident that if and when I want to buy more attachments for my particular appliance, I will be able to.

All in all, investing in my stand mixer has been a dream. I did not have one for many years, and now that I do, I don't know what I did without it. Love love love it. I highly recommend that every kitchen cook who does a bit of cooking and baking have a stand mixer in their kitchen tool collection.

That's it for today, blog.
