I don't do much frying, but we do love some fried foods. This lesson was about frying an egg, which I did enjoy seeing. It's one of my challenges. Now, I know how to fry an egg that looks good and is good to eat [without brown crispy edges]. I also make chicken cutlets and was amazed at how easy it was.
I made battered vegetables, somewhat called "tempura." Now, I am not really supposed to eat battered food… because they are a bit high in carbohydrates. But this recipe is just too yummy to pass up. I had to try it, and I'm glad I did. I learned how to do it and this will come in handy if and when I want to make a battered side dish for guests. It's a good tip for making appetizers, too.
This lesson included how to make fried chicken. Now even though I don't want to eat too many fried foods, I love fried chicken. I was never too confident to make it myself. My tries usually ended up more messy than tasty. When I had a crave for fried chicken, we opted for take-out from the Colonel. Now, I know the tips and tricks to making delicious fried chicken at home. I'll say goodbye to KFC.
My honey and I took a trip to New Orleans a few years ago. I fell in love with beignets at Cafe Du Monde. Chef David showed me how easy beignets are to make. Now, we can enjoy the taste of New Orleans whenever we want. I serve beignets for breakfast with coffee and for a wonderful dessert. Easy. Make ahead. Inexpensive. So delicious. Great treat!
I am feeling real confident with my cooking. Boy oh boy, have I learned how to cook from Chef David and his fabulous cooking lessons.
