Baby, it's cold out there, but but but, it's Texas.
Hello blogees, it's freezing in many states so I guess me thinking it's cold here in the Lone Star State is just silly. There's no snow and no ice on the ground; I need to toughen up.
Can you believe it's December? Christmas? Already? What happened to the year? Time ticks your life away, doesn't it?
My honey and I are winding down. The older we get, the winder downer we go. That's not to say we're both still incredibly busy. Between work and maintaining our home, ourselves and our pup, it's exhausting. I don't know how we used to do all we used to do. It's a puzzle.
One fault of mine that you may relate to is getting too consumed with something, I don't do anything else. Have you ever tippy tapped on computer keys so long you forgot to eat? That's what I mean. It happens to me a lot.
Busy or not, we made it a priority to have date night. Married couples still need to behave like newslyweds, don't they?
Date Night
Get cleaned up, put on some nose-sniffy fragrance, maybe a drop or two of breathe freshener and doll up the table for an extra special evening gazing into each other's eyes. Corny? You bet -- and worth every second. No work talk, no talk of do and don't. Definitely no talk about money or lack thereof. Just you and your mate pressing the refresh button on loving each other -- by candlelight, of course. Soft music, too. It's dreamy. Tell your mate ten things you like about how s/he looks, and what you like about what s/he does. After a simple dinner, cozy up by the nice warm flickering fireplace, (if you have one) get comfy together under a big sofa throw with a cup of hot chocolate. Yum! Watch a classic movie... even a double feature with a side of popcorn. That's date night. Nothing could be finer. Give it a try if you don't already.
What got me started thinking about date night is the lack of it. We started date night years ago, and weeks came and went and so did date night. We forgot.
Anything that can bring sunshine into the day, these days, is something everyone might want to think about. It's basically free. You don't need to go out, spend a lot of money on a bar tab or gourmet meal. In fact, the homemade stuff is the better stuff, isn't it?
We've started our collection of DVD movies, the ones we love to watch again and again. The heros we cheer for, the villains we wait to cheer for. There's the romantic stories, the mysteries, action and adventure. Date night isn't complete without a good movie.
The world can be a scary place if you're paying attention. Stop, enjoy the moments. That's all life really is, a series of moments and the clock is ticking.
That's what's on my mind today.
