What I Dreamed

December 2021. Years ago, I didn't dream about wealth or fame. I just wanted a safe life, a happy life, a chance to raise children in a safe home, have opportunities to benefit from my hard work, teach the good values my father taught me.

I never dreamed about reading false reports in the news, using swear words, or being overly sensitive to people who ridiculed my heritage, my race, my father. 

I never dreamed I'd have to be afraid of going to church or fear my neighbor's son who might be radicalized and explode a suicide bomb somewhere where my children are.

America today seems far from the America I knew. How about you? Do you believe today's America can still deliver your dreams?
