Every
American citizen who lives in this great land agrees or should agree
that this country from sea to shining sea gives its land for you and
yours, for me and mine, so we all can make our dreams come true.
The path to the American Dream is simple: “Live by our Constitution and Core Values.”
Some Americans claim, “We can do better” as if those words are an apology. I say, “We constantly to do better. Why?
Americans learn from the past, but we don’t live in the past.
In 1931 an American writer by the name of James Adams defined the
My
American
Dream in his book, The Epic of America, with these words, "a land in
which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with
opportunity for each according to ability or achievement..."
My father was spit on and called degrading ethnic slurs. His business
was burned, and he was hung in effigy. He didn't yell and scream. Not out loud.
He didn't give up? He believed in the American Dream.
For those who tried to strip his spirit, I heard him say, "You can't change the devil, but the devil can change you."
Birth of the American Dream.
Americans must always remember that the American Dream was given to us
in 1776. Our ancestors earned it for us and our children. This gift was
won through their courage, blood and death. We are descendants of those
"First Veterans" who became “We the People: America's First Citizens"
Many brave men, women and children put everything on the line to earn the freedom we enjoy today.
When our Constitution was ratified with all its rights and freedoms defined, the American Dream was born.
The
American Dream is about the freedom to enjoy apple pie and hot dogs on
the 4th of July. It’s about good health, family, home and a regular
paycheck. It's our freedom of speech, our 2nd Amendment and all our
Constitutional amendments.
The American people want the same thing — a safe and secure place to live and raise their kids.
We want to be free to pursue our dreams. Whatever that means for you. Not the government's dream, but YOUR dreams.
I
celebrate this great land and the privilege of being American. I refuse
to throw away what my father and so many fought and died for, to
preserve.
I refuse to condemn people I disagree with, and I pray
they don't condemn me for my beliefs and opinions. Rather, I rejoice
that we all give thanks everyday for this great land we call America.
United We Stand: Divided We Fall.
No one is perfect to everyone. Not one of us. Together, America is perfect.
We embrace our differences, because, We are Americans.
In
1961, John F. Kennedy said. "And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what
your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country."
It's
up to us, you and me, to make America safe, prosperous and peaceful;
and protect the American Dream for ourselves and our posterity. Not
because we're forced by government or made to feel guilty or intimidated
by rhetoric of those who want to destroy the fabric of our dreams, but
because we honor the collective pledge we all make to each other every
day.
We honor our forefathers and ancestors who came before us
and paved the way for us and our children. We are humble and thankful.
"We
The People" are the United States of America. We value and support all
our dreams, because when one of us succeeds, we all succeed.
