Teh weekend means rest and relaxation… unless there's an active honey-do-list sparking and bouncing. It's hot. Red hot, because I have agreement. Wow!
You can't even imagine what that means, blog. Let me give you an example, 20 years ago, my honey vowed to refinish our buffet. It is a beauty, but scratched a bit. The gorgeous brass handles have embossed ornate engravings that are unmatched in today's marketplace… unless you have deep pockets and are willing to spend spend spend on these antique brass handles. But, they need gentle polishing. Lots.
My honey has been "getting to it" for 241 months. 1,124 weekends. 87,965 days. Count it anyway you like. Take your pick. I've waited awhile. Patient am I> Not so much.
He gets annoyed with me [only slightly] when I remind him, year after year, that it's time to refinish the buffet. [no outsider can touch his precious buffet] He wants to take care of this project himself, because he, and only he, will be ever so careful to preserve the quality this piece of historic furniture deserves.
So, now that we've established that only my honey is 'good enough' to tackle the refinishing of this beauty, and we know that it has been 20 years, you have a good example of what I am talking about, blog.
My honey has a slow do-it clock. Pleeze, let me say in his defense that he has completed a ton of honey-do projects. He designed and landscaped the yard, front and back. Put in gorgeous cabinets in the laundry room. Shelved the exercise room... and plenty more.
Not to change the fact, that he moves to his own tick-tock... yes, the list remains unfinished with long-awaited hope. So, how exciting it is that he has finally agreed to check check check it off the items on my remaining honey-do-list. Yea, Happy am I.
Here's My Honey's typical steps to a new project. day one. He first removes the furniture from our office. Home office,. Business office. It's moving to the other room [temporarily] while the office is thoroughly cleaned, dusted and polished. He runs our progressive Hepa Filter vacuum [his pick, wouldn't ya know]. Otherwise known as 'death to dog' as Bailey runs for dear cover in his bed totally freaked by the turn-on vacuum sound. Can you hear him bark bark barking as he trots down the foyer?
Also, on item one of the to-do list, is sweep the fan. Wash the outside windows, also inside as well as the 24 window panes on the 14-foot double French doors that close off the office space.
Yes, it does sound like spring cleaning, but not. It's a sort of reno. Upgrade. Just a minute. Let me explain.
Item one on the honey-do-list is the long awaited upgrade to wireless, not the revamping of the office. But I know my honey [smile].
On the heels of ordering Cable service, from our existing DSL telephone line service, we are also jumping into new technology with wireless.
What's great is that with wireless, we can opt to have some of our computers wired and some wireless. Peripheral's, too.
When you have a homebased business, you had better keep all the tools of the trade up to speed, latest versions and all that. We do.
Since we're redoing the room, I wanted to move my desk to the opposite wall. I have a giant, big big computer armoire. It is awesome. I love it. It's beautiful cherry wood with rich carvings. The top part has two double doors that can close when company comes. Same at the bottom. Once closed up, this piece of office furniture looks as if it belongs in your dining room. You simply can't tell that it is a working office, storing business stuff. Looks fab.
Anyway, as I said, I know my honey. Once we started moving furniture, he got out the vacuum and away we were into clean up the dust from ago. But noooo, if you noticed from the upcoming kitchen renovation, my honey likes to "complete" the order of things. So, to make this brief, he's decided we needed to redo the floor… since he had to move all the furniture out of the room anyway. Hmmm, do I ever know my honey… did I know that's what he'd want to do. Not me.
Off with the tired carpet. On with the new eco-friendly bamboo flooring. Yea. My Honey is a perfectionist.
